BLR is excited to announce Anita Huff as our new Tribal Administrator!

Admin

Anita brings a remarkable history of service to this vital role. Her dedication to the Tribe and her leadership throughout her 29-year career with Blue Lake Rancheria make her an exceptional choice to guide us forward.

Anitaโ€™s close connection to Blue Lake began in childhood, where she spent her days exploring the area, riding horses along Rancheria Road, and delivering newspapers door-to-door for the Time Standard on horseback. These experiences nurtured her lifelong appreciation for the land and the community. As a young girl, she helped save the life of the Brundin familyโ€™s milk cowโ€”an early sign of her fearless spirit and devotion to others. This same determination and commitment have defined her career with Blue Lake Rancheria, where she has built a legacy of hard work, dedication, and a commitment to making a positive impact.

Over the years, a meaningful mentorship has helped influence Anitaโ€™s path. She first met Arla Ramsey in the mid-1980s when they worked together at a local gas station. During their time as coworkers, Arla taught Anita the ins and outs of being a cashier and handling propane and fuel. After about a year, Arla applied for a position at the U.S. Forest Service and was hired as a tree grader. Recognizing Anitaโ€™s potential, Arla encouraged her to apply for a position with the U.S. Forest Service as well.

That decision led to a decade-long career, where Anita continually advancedโ€”gaining expertise in operating heavy equipment, managing field crews, and developing leadership skills. When Arla transitioned to the Tribal Administrator role at Blue Lake Rancheria, Anita stepped into Arlaโ€™s position at the Forest Service, continuing her upward trajectory.

Later, when Arla was expanding operations at BLR, she reached out to Anita, offering her a job with the Tribeโ€”an important moment that marked the start of Anitaโ€™s longstanding career with Blue Lake Rancheria.

From her early days working for the Tribe as a utility and agriculture worker, Anitaโ€™s contributions were wide-ranging. She tended gardens, delivered floral arrangements, supported the Elders Program, and worked closely with the community. Her efforts helped establish foundational programs that benefited Tribal members and residents alike.

In 1997, Anita became the Director of the Elders Program, a position she held for 10 years. During her tenure, she expanded services, hosted community events, and built partnerships that strengthened the Tribeโ€™s presence in the region. Anitaโ€™s leadership was instrumental in growing the Elderโ€™s program and ensuring its lasting impact.

In 2009, Anita transitioned to the role of Grants Manager, where she worked to secure funding for housing, education, transportation, and other essential programs. Her collaborative approach and attention to detail helped streamline operations and support the Tribeโ€™s ongoing expansion.

By 2015, Anita took on an additional role as Emergency Manager, developing the Resiliency Training & Innovation Center (RTIC), an award-winning program that became a regional leader in emergency preparedness and training. Her leadership in this position enhanced the Tribeโ€™s ability to serve its members and contribute greatly to the broader community.

Now, in 2025, Anita has been appointed as Tribal Administrator of Blue Lake Rancheria. Her journey reflects a steadfast commitment to the Tribeโ€™s success and a strong dedication to its values and initiatives.

Anitaโ€™s story is one of dedication, growth, and leadership. Her work continues to strengthen Blue Lake Rancheria, ensuring a prosperous future for the Tribe and its members.
