It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Chairperson Claudia Brundin on October 30, 2024. Claudia’s leadership, dedication, and commitment to the Blue Lake Rancheria have left an indelible mark on our community, one that will resonate for generations to come.
Claudia Brundin served as Chairperson of our Tribe with a vision for a stronger, brighter future. Her leadership spanned more than three decades, during which she was re-elected multiple times—a testament to her enduring impact and the trust our community placed in her. Her father, Oscar E. Brundin, also served as Chairperson, and Claudia followed in his footsteps with grace, wisdom, and an abiding commitment to our people and traditions.
Before stepping into her elected role, Claudia’s career spanned healthcare and hospitality. For over 30 years, she worked with St. Joseph Health in Humboldt County, serving others with the same compassion and dedication that she later brought to her leadership of the Tribe. Her background in business administration further enriched her work, as did her lifelong connection to our Tribal lands here at the Blue Lake Rancheria.
Claudia Brundin’s legacy is one of strength, compassion, and a deep love for her community. We will honor her memory by continuing her mission of building a stronger Tribe for future generations.
A Celebration of Claudia’s life will be held at Blue Lake Casino’s Sapphire Palace on Wednesday, November 20th at 1pm.
In respect and remembrance,
Blue Lake Rancheria Tribal Council
